A-286 alloy (S66286) is an iron-basedsuperalloy useful for applications requiring high strength and corrosionresistance up to 1300°F (704°C) and for lower stress applications at highertemperatures A-286 alloy is heat and corrosion resistant and can be age-hardenedto a high strength level. The alloy is also used for low-temperatureapplications requiring a ductile, non-magnetic high strength material attemperatures ranging from above room temperature down to at least -320°F(-196°C). The alloy may be used for moderate corrosion applications in aqueoussolutions. Aqueous corrosion resistance of A-286 is comparable to 316/316Lstainless grade. Up to 1800 °F (982 °C), the oxidation resistance of alloyA-286 is equivalent to that of Type 310 stainless.

Used for reasonably low cost when moderatestrength and oxidation resistance are required at temperatures greater thansuitable for stainless steels. This alloy finds application in gas turbineforgings.
